in memory of a geat man

I have many fond memories of Mike and the amazing South Woodford 1st X1 of the 1970s. As a teenager playing a small part in the team i was in awe of the calibre of people like Mike, Pip George Martin Oliver Ossie Gooding Tony Leek Robert Wiggs Jim Little etc. In those days you didn’t need 200 to win a game very often 130/140 runs was enough. Being a bowler myself following Mike Ossie and Robert there would be barely scraps left for anyone else after they had decimated the opposition batting line up. I remember Mike of being a man of very sharp wit and a great raconteur who had stories for every occasion. I shared a room with Mike many times on the tour with John Lewis to Eastbourne. A great man who has left his mark on all that he came into contact with. He will be sadly missed.

In memory of a great player

Way back in the mists of time I played against Mike and remember him as a superb bowler, particularly on a wet pitch. Latterly, in his coaching capacity, I recall proper and sensible conversations with him about umpires and umpiring. I am delighted to donate to a terrific cause in Mike's memory. RIP
